So I had an idea for a product, which I won't elaborate much on here because posting the idea on a public forum would sort of defeat the goal of going for a patent.

What's the best way to go about getting a patent for an idea? Like, somewhere to send concept drawings, description, etc to? Where to get the forms, who to contact, etc.

Um... is there a reason you didn't just go to the US Patent Office website?

Because I was unable to navigate their page to that handy dandy flowchart.

Government websites always have an absoutely terrible and difficult to navigate (for most people) design.

Tell me about it. I hate our local website - http://www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/

There's far too many buttons and search engines, not enough actual information!

Glad the flowchart was useful. smile.gif
I did not find it via their page, actually; but if you run a google search for "US Patent Office", it's one of the sub-links that google offers for that page. I just clicked on the link that seemed pertinent to prospective patent applicants. The page itself may very well be a morass, lord knows (like garlic says) my own hometown's page is so useless you can't even find the information about trash pick-up days there.
