Wild and Wacky weekend for wild card round. The Eagles and the Patriots get their asses whooped and the Cards win a wild one.
Wild Card results
Jets v Bengals = Jets 24 Bengals 14
Eagles v Cowboys = Eagles 14 Cowboys 34
Ravens v Patriots = Ravens 33 Patriots 14 (side note that NE hadn't lost a home playoff game since the late 70's)
Packers v Cardinals = Packers 45 Cardinals 51 (OT)
I only had a chance to watch the Cardinal game but I caught the end of the Patriot game to see Moss pout all the way to the tunnel.

Ok. Those wacky Cardinals pulled one out. Packers first 3 scrimmage plays in order, INT, run, Lost Fumble. The second half both defenses became impotent and it was all about the Explosive offenses. 14 seconds left and Neil Rackers has a chancel to nail a 30 something yard FG and all but seal the game...he shanks it. At this point I was like WTF?! OT here we come. Packers win toss. Incur a penalty pushing them to the 15. Next play the pocket collapses on Rodgers he gets stripped and the ball is recovered by the Cards and run in for the Touchdown and win. WACKY FUCKIN GAME!
Divisional sched.
SAT
Cards @ Saints: This is gonna be a battle of offenses.
Ravens @ Colts: This could be interesting.
SUN
Cowboys @ Vikings: Will the Cowboys Collapse or can they keep it together to beat the geriatric Favre?
Jets @ Chargers: You know my stance on this one I don't think the Jets have a chance.
Picks: as much as I want to see Brees v Rivers in the Super Bowl I'm picking Arizona. The offense clicked really well and I think they can take that to NO against a team that ended the season in a 3 game skid.
Colts. On paper any team is underdog against Manning but they escaped by the hair on their chinny chin chin last time. Will be a good game.
Cowboys. On a roll and gonna take it Minnesota with them.
Chargers.

Right now, I feel that Dallas is the hottest team in the playoffs right now, especially the defense.
Being a Cowboys fan, it feels great to finally see another playoff win since beating Minnesota in 96.
Plus it is a good thing that Dallas tends to own Farve.
I still think San Diego is the team going to the SB for the AFC.
I think Indy, SD, NO and Dallas advance.

Indy, SD, NO, & Minnesota.
Minnesota has a better run defense than anyone Dallas has faced. Minnesota 17-13

Dallas isn't a one dimensional team. Having a good run defense won't be enough. Also, Dallas has a 3 running back attack. I feel the way Dallas executes the draw, and screen will tear Minnesota apart.
Dallas on defense is just ridiculous. Favre is good, no doubt about it. However, the pass rush of Dallas I feel is going to give him headaches all day and Favre is no where near as mobile as some of the quarterbacks who've faced Dallas having a tough day. I feel Minnesota will try to force the ball on passes and ultimately will be forced to rely on the run and Dallas is more than capable to neutralizing Adrian.
I don't see Minnesota having a good enough secondary to stop Dallas' pass options. Even if they do well protecting the deep ball, I feel they'll leave the middle of the feel open allowing Witten to carve them up; or the other way around.
I don't see it being a blow out by no means, but I see Dallas having all the answers for Minnesota but having few answers for Dallas.
Picks:
Baltimore, SD, Arizona, Dallas.

I'm rooting for a Baltimore vs Arizona super bowl. Baltimore because I love watching their defense play, and Arizona because that game yesterday was hilarious. Also, I like Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald.
New Orleans is okay, too.
As for the picks, SD, Baltimore, New Orleans, Dallas.

WTF Hikage, what happened to your Field Goal kicker?
Anyways, Dallas got destroyed.

Our O-line was no match for the Vikes D-Line.
Koden Hitotsu
Jan 18 2010, 09:08 AM
I don't even think it was a matter of the O-line. They just didn't come to play, and made too many mistakes.
It was pretty obvious from the first half that they could move the damn ball, but like the commentators said, "they have 2 positive plays and 1 negative play each possession always resulting in a punt".
Oh, and Suisham can go to fucking hell. I don't even care that his field goals would have mattered. His is in a dome, and misses 3 of 4. Some field goals might have been able to give dallas some momentum.
Bah, whatever. My weekends opened up now, so meh.

The kickers have been crappy all around in these playoffs. It really makes you appreciate guys like Elam and Vinatieri.
But with the Chargers game, I knew San Diego was screwed when the Jets CBs were snagging interceptions off receivers' legs.

Get ready for this... I'm not gonna bitch about the refs! I don't know what the fuck happened to nate kaeding to miss 2 field goals like that. I didn't expect him to hit the 57 yarder at half time. That's a tall order for any kicker. If he hit those two field goals I could see the game going into OT. If we had lost in OT I wouldn't be nearly as bummed out as I am now.
I will bitch about the commentary on the first INT. "What an athletic play!" MY ASS! if Jackson's heel had been 1 inch left or right that ball would have hit the ground and been an incomplete pass.
All in all Our defense let us down big time in the second half. We were able to contain the run in the first quite well. And our offense incurred a bunch of STUPID penalties. I mean c'mon guys I know it's the playoffs and emotions are high but unnecessary roughness and unsportmanlike conduct are stupid penalties we don't need.
I think the hit on Kurt Warner was uncalled for by the saints. Yes he was fair game but was that hard of a hit necessary? He's an older QB...he's pretty fragile.

Eat it all you Tv NFL analysts who were all about Cowboys winning it all, because they beat the Eagles, who a week before were going to win it all.
Go Vikes!
Also, listening to announcers ramble on about Brett Favre is hilarious. The best I heard on saturday was, "Brett Favre has confidence in Brett Favre."

Uh, of course it was an athletic play. To be running full sprint, covering someone, successfully covering them, falling, still being aware enough of what's happening to reach out and grab the ball from hitting the ground after it got a lucky tip then having the ability to get up without being touched and return it for a decent gain? You have to be a 100% biased fanboy to discredit that as an athletic play.

Jan 20 2010, 05:12 AM
A. Haven't you figured out I'm biased yet? Seriously...haven't we gone over this before?
B. The ball fell into his hands...how "athletic" is that.
C. I don't think he returned it for any yards. He was still touching Jackson when it happened and he was on the ground which I think rules him down by contact.

Hence me picking the Vikings again this week. I want the Colts to win, but think the Jets will pull it out.

I never expected Dallas to get far, which is why I had the Saints winning the SB since preseason. Although I do like that the Cowboys have progressed and maybe next year be consistent all year.
But damn, Jets foiled my Superbowl Match up.
So, if the Jets win and go to the Super Bowl does Rex Ryan get the last laugh?

You're welcome to be biased, but it shouldn't interfere with your common sense and intelligence. Revis made a hell of a fucking play and if you can't take a step back and acknowledge that, your comments and opinion of the game have absolutely no merit.
You don't have to like it, but you should sure as hell respect the play as a fan of the sport. It's not Revis' fault that Rivers wanted to try and force it in there to allow the spectacular interception to be made. It's not Revis' fault that Jackson had
both hands on it and couldn't hold on to it. It is Revis' fault that he broke up the pass and was aware enough to grab the ball before it did hit the ground. Awareness is in fact an athletic attribute, despite what you think you know about athleticism.
With that in mind...
J! E! T! S! JETS JETS JETS!!!Also, go Favre.
PS: In case you want to see the interception over and over again, you can find it here.

Ok Ghosty this is the last thing i'm going to say on this. Watch that clip. Especially around : 30. If Jacksons heel is 1 inch left or right it's an incomplete pass. No catching a ball that falls into your hands is not athleticism. it's luck. Recognize the play for what it was. BAD LUCK.
Go Saints.
Super bowl 44 pick. Colts. As much as I want Brees to win the Colts defense is going to stop the Saints.

While I admit it takes an amount of skill to, while having just fallen, to spot the ball and go for it. However it did basically fall onto him, and the ball bouncing off the heel was just luck in my opinion. Too many other times do we see a ball come free and an opposing player grab it and start running as if they've gotten a turnover--even though the ref has been blowing the whistle for a good 5 seconds. It is obviously in a defensive mindset for when you see a loose ball to get after it and go the opposite way. For the most part, he got lucky, because it could have just as easily hit the ground, bounced up and into his lap. He didn't know, he was just doing what all defensive players do when they get the ball. Whether they know the play is dead or not.

Awesome, I picked the Saints to win, though I gravitate heavily towards the AFC. I figured the Colts had won recently, and the Saints never had before, so that was a good enough reason to pick them.

Now I'm at a personal record of 12-2 since Super Bowl XXXI.

OK. COMMERCIAL PICKS!

2. Betty White and Abe Vigoda snickers ad.
3. Slug Bug commercial for the sheer hilarity of Stevie Wonder calling it and nailing Tracy Morgan on the arm.
