Sounds like an entire chapter of pointless filler. slant.gif Why any of it?

I've always wanted the KB turned into inanimate objects that the opponent ignores, for a surprise attack, tactic to be implemented. This chapter gets a thumbs up for me, just for that.

OK, yeah.

I'd rather see them on someone who wasn't unconscious though.

I don't think it matters how it's used, Kage Bunshin stopped being interesting about 400 chapters ago. And this kind of thing always raises the question: if it can be done, why the hell has it never been done before?
ZsychPrime
Due to Kishimoto's extreme lack of tactical sense? Or rather, his stubborn desire to make Naruto stay dumb and in the underdog position for most of the series?

I'd always thought that this was the most obvious way for Naruto to match the 4th's teleportation jutsu. And really, intelligent acts are always to be appreciated. It makes no difference to me that this is an application of the KB. That's exactly what ninja should be doing - better utilizing their skills to make their fights more complex, and thus entertaining, as opposed to using brute force. What's annoying is exactly the fact that this hasn't been done before. We knew it was possible from the time Naruto turned into a shuriken in the Zabuza fight.

It's not like Naruto is the only one who can use Kage Bunshin (or any of the advanced Bunshin should work the same). So that isn't a reason.

Of course it's Kishimoto's fault, but sometimes I'd rather things not be done at all rather than done too late.
Kireato
Oh hey, it's nice to see Pain fight back, but it's a bit worrying.

to match the 4th's teleportation jutsu

Use the earth or heaven scrolls that even Iruka could summon himself with from the chuunin exam?
ZsychPrime
To be able to suddenly appear behind enemy lines for an unexpected and lethal attack. The 4th could quickly appear, kill, and move elsewhere - but with his primary body. Naruto could have sudden simultaneous attacks - as long as his KB aren't stupid enough to get dispelled. Typically, a knife to the throat should work well enough against most ninja.

As for using this tactic with bunshin in general. I suppose that would depend on how much chakra they have. KB does split chakra making the individual clones less able to use jutsu. It wouldn't mesh well with a jutsu heavy fighting style at least. For Naruto, I'd have used this almost from the beginning - making him more dangerous, and forcing his opponents to try harder. Seems that the sage training has been coupled with a removal of much of the stupidity Naruto has suffered from since the chuunin exams.

On another note, I dislike the idiotic implication that ninjas like Gai can't help Naruto out at all.
Woofie

What the hell's with Nagato's hair colour?
Kireato
Drawng similarities with Naruto's team. Except pink is not manly enough.
Woofie
It looks like Kishi put no effort at all into either Nagato picture compared to the others. confused.gif Then again, the present day Naruto and Sasuke pics look pretty half-hearted as well.

Chibi Konan is sweet though.

its up on onemanga

not sure exactly what happened...apparently naruto's clones can withstand the gravity push. Lame. I would have rather had his clones holding him down work. Now its just "omg jiraiya taught him to win".

also, does pain have the ability to shoot the black rods out at any time? because he used it against the clones, but not against the real naruto. this fight sucked, imo. Also, pain is totally not dead/defeated.
Koden Hitotsu
The clones braced Naruto so he wouldn't be repelled. There were enough that all of them bracing him withstood the push.

The fight is centered around the fact Pain kill Jiraiya, so of course they will make a connection to him with his defeat.
Kireato
I still don't know how 5 seconds went by when Kakashi failed to raikiri God pain.
I have no idea how the shadow fuuton rasengan didn't get blasted as well considering how he blasts the horde of clones.
Now that I think about it, aren't all those disguising jutsus genjutsus? How come Naruto can do them? He's certified incapable of them? (Then again, it seemed like those disguising jutsus do in fact grant the properties of the object you're disguising in, so it's actually shapeshifting and not illusion?)
When exactly did he find the time to place those fake rocks and how did Pain fail to notice it?
Why did Pain give up? He was facing a fuuton rasengan and he dodged it normally, why didn't he try to dodge the rasengan? How hard exactly is it to dodge some guy being thrown at you? He can't change directions in mid air. And Pain has got his extending black rods to pin him down from a little distance. Why?

Outside of all that, the action looked cool. And hopefully next week we'll get something more interesting.
Koden Hitotsu
He transforms, via henge which I guess is technically not considered genjutsu as all genin must perform it to graduate the academy. Granted there are exceptions, like Lee, but I don't believe it is considered genjutsu, more of a stealth ability.

Kireato
No, it is considered to be genjutsu. But I just remembered that even if Naruto fails at even basic genjutsu such as bunshin, he performs, uh, with varied results henge no jutsu. Put simply he was only successful at transformations with sexy no jutsu.

We never saw him train to extend his transformation skill to any random object, but he became capable of it early on in the series. See shadow shuriken technique when he henge'd into a shuriken, and the time he got boss frog and himself to look like a giant fox. (Except that didn't even seem like it was only an illusion.)

So yeah, let's just go with basic skills he mysteriously obtained even though he started without.
ZsychPrime
The problem early on may just have been his pathetic chakra control. As for henge. That has never been just genjutsu. It was always a transformation - you couldn't throw a dude just visually made to look like a shuriken like he was actually a shuriken. An illusionary fox's teeth wouldn't have any meaning. At most you could say that it is a transformation technique but one that is based in the intent to deceive, and thus in a sense, an illusion.
Woofie
The action was quite well done in this chapter, it's just a shame it was all pointless. I guess if the fight hadn't been dragged out so much beforehand, it would've been ok.

It was quite strange to see Pain getting so visibly angry.

I don't really get why Pain was unable to avoid Naruto's attack at the end either. It reminded me of when Naruto first landed the complete Rasengan on Kabuto; Naruto grabbed Kabuto's hand, and somehow that rendered him completely immobile. Here, Naruto gets thrown, and Pain is immobilised too. Maybe it's just something about Rasengan, seeing it makes people forget they have legs.

Because shonen manga never changes. biggrin.gif

I wouldn't have agreed that the first colour page was the best either, something more related to the fight could have gone there though I did like the second page with all the young versions and current...even though saskue has no plot in this fight at all.

Good call.

Wow, I really can't wait for the next chapter. Everything I assumed has come true as of yet.
I cannot imagine what the fight with Mandara will be like.. My god

Henge has always been a ninjutsu

All these chapters just seem pointless. Why is this fight being dragged out for so long. Kishi wants us to think its amazing and epic when it just isnt. At this point I'm really wondering why the editors at JUMP keep letting him produce such low quality material. He's still making them money so they cant cut the series but at least light a fire under his ass, this is some really uninspired stuff he's been putting out.
ZsychPrime
Personally, I'd just fire him and let someone with a brain continue the series smile.gif
This is a lot like Lucas making the prequels.

I didn't know. Narutochuunin lists it as a genjutsu. I figured they had gotten it from the databooks or something.

So I guess that means we can go back to saying that Naruto can't even do basic genjutsu. That's a relief. ^_^

QUOTE

It is.

And hilariously, just as in Naruto I fail to see critical differences between part 1 and 2, I honestly can't understand why people were surprised by the disappointments that the Star Wars prequels were. People are blind to the change in their expectations.
ZsychPrime
Both Naruto and SW, implied the potential of greater coolness than what was given to them on elaboration.

Well~ remember that Pain slew Kakashi in no time at all, and Naruto has stood against him toe to toe for a much longer time. They've got a basis to say help might not help Naruto here.

I despise chapters that claim in the title the fight is going to end... because the fight never ends. The fight could go on for again as many chapters.

As to when he hid those clones, I would guess he hid them when the giant rock ball in the sky collapsed on top of him... and then he directed Pain to the spot above his clones using his two last shurikens. As to why Pain didn't dodge Naruto's Rasengan.. I have no idea...

By the way, I've been reading Sleepy Fans translation.. and the last few chapters have been rather awkward. The text just doesn't flow well. I don't know if that's the author and faithful translation or... whatever.

Well, Pain did use two bodies. Kakashi and Deva hardly fought at all, he called in a second one pretty quickly. And with the help of Chouji and Chouza, he did come pretty damn close to killing Deva.

Gai might be more of a problem though, since he's less likely to think ahead... so he's more likely to get caught out and make Naruto save him.

Sleepyfans is usually fairly bad, but apparently this week's was worse than normal. I didn't even download it, I went with an alternative.

I'm going to assume that Pain is spent, simply too exhausted to move physically. He's putting every ounce of himself, giving his very life, to repel Naruto... and he just doesn't have enough to doge anymore.

You're gullible and delusional.
Koden Hitotsu
There actually is a level of truth to what he says.

Upon arriving in Konoha, Naruto in Senin mode gave us the impression we would witness a whole new Naruto...but as it has turned out he is only physically stronger/faster, but as far as moves go he really has the same list of skills, just maybe different ways to use them. Not much has changed.

Yeah I was rather expecting more and rather disapointed with the lack of new moves considering all the training he does. Though for a Genin he does well lets be honest. tongue.gif
Koden Hitotsu
He does, and as soon as this arc is over...they need to develop him into at least a Chuunin...the whole "you're the only Genin left, etc" is REALLY dumb, on the one hand because he was gone for 2 1/2 years and is harassed about it, and on the other hand there hasn't been an exam since he came back. I'm sure he could make Jounin if it opportunity arose.
Revolver Rossalot
How could you possibly think that after all of this Naruto undergoing a chuunin exam would be a good idea? The village exploded, where would they hold it tongue.gif

and I dont really see how anyone thought Naruto would have new moves (besides Sennin mode and Rasen Shurikin) after his training at the frog mountain. This wasnt implied at all, and its not really startling. Kishi has turned all of his characters into one trick ponies. Itachi with genjutsu, Sasuke with lightning, Oro with snakes, Naruto with KB, Kakashi with Chidori, and the list goes on.

I think he's given up on creating new and interesting moves. I mean he obviously isnt putting the effort into writing a coherent and entertaining plot so I dont see why he would put in the effort to create a bunch of new jutsu.
Koden Hitotsu
All I was merely suggesting was to give Naruto some fucking development. Yes, we have the whole Kyuubi part, but it seems he does nothing but go in circles when it comes to training, etc.

1. Find a situation he cannot regularly over-come
2. Learn some new technique and proceed to use it over and over or in some "unforeseen way"
3. Repeat #1 and immediately #2 only with the same attack

That all is a given at this point...

Yes, these characters are 'one trick ponies', and there might be some hope in breaking that if you hold another exam where they are placed in unique situations where it is possible the same shit over and over will not work...something might actually need to be developed for the given situation. Did I mean an exam should be held right fucking now? No. I merely stated that having one might repair some of this image given to Naruto and lend some variety to at least 1 character.

Neji from what I've seen appears to be the character with the most variety, after Sasuke but that is only because we haven't seen shit from him until he started hunting down Itachi. There was a big gap between that.
Woofie
He only had a week. Mastering Sennin Mode at all in that time is probably a pretty good achievement.
Koden Hitotsu
I agree with that but he doesn't DO anything with it...

I find it SO irritating that all these supporting characters are the ones with the amazing moves, like Jiraiya. His jutsu using his hair is actually pretty cool. I want to see that level of shit from him. That might be too much to ask at this point in the story, but I feel we have been deserving of that caliber of skill from these characters for a long time. I just feel that with this Senin mode etc, that it's about time we start seeing it. Not only getting to have it with Sasuke.
