Super Mario Bros Mafia
Welcome.
The rules for this game are basically the same as the past few games:
- No role revealing - don't state or obviously suggest what your role is in the game at all.
- No screencaps or posting of PMs.
- No private discussion - unless your ability grants you exception, don't discuss the game outside of this topic.
- No spam - try to keep discussion on the game itself. The occasional joke is ok, but don't start discussing the latest episode of Heroes here or whatever.
- One after-death post - you have one post and no more after you're killed to say goodbye. Don't say anything to try to give your teammates an advantage, though.
- No deliberating during the night phase. Some reaction to what happened in the day is ok, but don't discuss suspects et cetera.
General information:
- There is no red-zoning in this game (if you don't know what that is, don't worry about it), but it will be helpful if you make your votes red anyway to ensure they're seen. Make sure they're bolded at least.
- The estimated time for a round to end will normally be posted at its beginning, so try to make sure you've voted by the stated time. Rounds could be extended or shortened if there's demand for it, though.
- Activity is important. To make the game as enjoyable as possible, please post as much as you can. If you have a night action then make sure your PMs are prompt - if you take too long then we'll carry on without it and you won't be able to use your action that night. If you are going to be away for a time, let us know beforehand.
- Roles are mostly (90% or so) random, so don't dwell too much on such things like who is due to be mafia and so on.
- It would be helpful if you could send all PMs to both me and Baka Onna, using the carbon copy function, but it isn't essential.
- If you have any questions about your role or the game, PM one of us immediately and we'll clear it up.

Five years had passed since Bowser's last and most crushing defeat at the hands of Mario, and the Mushroom Kingdom had existed in total peace ever since. Mario had taken up residency in Princess Peach's castle, and Luigi and most of their other friends lived in the beautiful surrounding hills and towns. Many assumed Bowser to be dead and lived without fear of attack for the first time in memory; but few were brave enough to cross the river and enter his old wastelands, and none had ventured so far as his old castle to make sure.
It was on a sunny day just like most others there that Mario received a phone call.
"Hello? Its-a Mario here"
"Um, yes... I have a blocked drain pipe you see, and er... I'd like you to come and fix it. I'm at, um, 742 Evergreen Terrace."
"Okie-dokie! I'll be right over."
Mario went to pick up Luigi, his usual plumbing assistant, and they went to the pipe portal connecting the Mushroom Kingdom with the real world. Both of them jumped in, and popped out in Brooklyn, New York. "So, my brother, do you have-a any idea where Evergreen Terrace is?" asked Mario.
"No, I've-a never heard of it," replied Luigi, "and don't you think it's odd that we just-a got a call from the real world like that? We haven't-a been plumbers for over 10 years now".
"Hmmm... verrry strange..."
Somewhere in the dark distance, a reptilian voice could be heard saying: "Bwahaha, they fell for it! Phase 2 begin!"
An army of Goombas crossed the bridge into the Mushroom Kingdom, and began to start fires all along the forest border. Smoke became visible from the hills and from Peach's castle, and instantly an army of Toads were sent out to investigate. Unfortunately, this left the castle too undefended...
"Phase 3, go!"
The plan was executed swiftly and quietly; Bowser was not yet ready for outright battle. Three Koopa Paratroopers flew unchallenged onto the top of the castle where Peach was standing to watch the events in the distance. Distracted, she didn't even notice until it was too late; two of the Paratroopers grabbed her and took off, with the third leading the way. Peach struggled, but realising she was hundreds of feet in the air, decided to stop. She was carried over the hills and was now being flown over the Forest.
The lead Paratrooper shouted to the Goombas below (some now engaged in battles with the Toads) to retreat, but this gave away their position in the air. From somewhere down below, an gigantic egg was thrown upwards, and it hit one of the carrying Paratroopers right in the face. Hurt and blinded, he let go of Peach and began to crash to earth, and unfortunately landed directly onto one of the Goomba's fires, being burned alive. Peach was now being carried by just one, and the weight was too much - they slowly began to sink, and crashed to the ground some distance from the rest of the action.
The Paratrooper got up and cursed under his breath, but as he did so he was struck heavily over the head by Peach's parasol. She was now free, but lost somewhere in the vast forest. The lead Paratrooper turned around and saw that both Peach and her two captors were missing... afraid of more attacks from below, he flew back to Bowser's castle to report the happenings. The plan had failed, but Peach was now in trouble in the dark wilderness, and the Mushroom Kingdom's inhabitants were in a state of panic, unsure exactly what had happened or what they should do.
Bowser was furious at the failure. "Raarggh, you fools! My plan was perfect, how did you mess it up?! No matter, though, we'll still get her. And then her Kingdom too!"
Meanwhile, unable to find an Evergreen Terrace in Brooklyn, Mario and Luigi returned to the Kingdom, popping out of a pipe inside the Castle. Mario instantly felt that something was amiss, and began to look for Peach, calling out her name. There was no response. His search took him to the top of the castle, from where Peach had been taken some hours earlier, and although night was falling, from there he spotted the smoke coming from the Forest. "Oh my!" he said, "What's-a going on? We need to head down there and check it out!".
Luigi was more scared, but reluctantly agreed. And so the brothers headed out to see what was happening, as yet unaware that Bowser had returned and was planning to capture Peach and destroy the Mushroom Kingdom.
The murky sun was rising as Mario and Luigi reached the forest. And so it begins.
